CEU/Professional Development

The goal of the Professional Development Department is to continuously increase student achievement through ongoing efforts to improve teacher effectiveness through quality professional development. Sign up in Vector PD for professional development opportunities offered through DeSoto County Schools.  We partner with the North Mississippi Education Consortium (NMEC) as our accredited CEU granting agency.

  • Only CEUs awarded through an accredited CEU granting agency are recognized by the state department.

  • Any Continuing Education Office at a college or university is an accredited CEU granting agency. When deciding to take CEU outside our district, make sure they are through a university, college or community/junior college that is a CEU granting agency.

  • Mississippi e-LEARNING for educators is another option for obtaining CEU credits.  It is offered through the Mississippi Public Broadcasting.

  • The Mississippi Department of Education will not allow participants to repeat a CEU class and use it again to renew your license.

Process for educators participating in professional development opportunities offering CEUs through DeSoto County Schools:

  • After participants have completed an approved training, participants will receive instructions to apply for a NMEC CEU Certificate, as well as receive a DCS Certificate of Completion.

  • Participants have 30 days from the last date of training to apply for the NMEC CEU Certificate.

  • The NMEC CEU application process requires participants to upload the DCS Certificate of Completion and pay a processing fee of $15 to NMEC.

  • Participants will receive an email from NMEC after CEU applications have been processed within 1-4 weeks.  The email will include directions to locate the NMEC CEU Certificates in the participants MSRESA account under your Registration History.  MSRESA Account login:   https://www.msresaservices.com/s/account/login

  • NMEC CEU Certificates can then be uploaded to your Mississippi Educator Career Continuum Archive (MECCA) account at any time prior to your license renewal deadline.  MECCA is the final step for your CEU credits to be approved and for educators to apply for license renewal.  My Mecca Website
